Cinnamon is possibly one of the most well known and popular spices and is easy to find at your local grocery store.
Besides its usefulness in the kitchen to spice up desserts and coffee,
cinnamon has other beneficial properties. It has been found to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer benefits and is also an immune system booster.
Recently, a team of researchers examined several previous studies exploring the effects of cinnamon on cognitive function. The results of their findings were published in Nutritional Neuroscience and highlight the possible value of cinnamon in preventing or lessening memory or learning deficiencies.
Researchers found that cinnamon and some of its active components could have beneficial effects on the workings of the human brain by helping memory and learning. More research is needed to determine the impact of cinnamon on the brain.
