Vizz eye drops from Lenz Therapeutics have received Food and Drug Administration approval to treat presbyopia (farsightedness) in adults.
Most adults over the age of 45 deal with farsightedness. Vizz eye drops are administered once daily and can improve vision within a half hour of administration and eliminate the need for reading glasses for up to 10 hours.
Vizz drops work by contracting the iris sphincter muscle, which results in a pinhole effect that extends depth of focus to markedly improve near vision without causing a nearsighted shift. The only active ingredient of the drops is aceclidine. Vizz drops are expected to be available by the end of 2025.
