Three more people have died after using EzriCare Artificial Tears and Delsam Pharma Artificial Tears.
All of the deaths were due to the drug-resistant strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria that were found in the drops. As of this week, 68 patients from across 16 states have been affected by the contaminated products. Eight patients have suffered complete vision loss and four people have had to have their eye removed.
Anyone using either of these products is urgently asked to discontinue use immediately and contact their eye care provider if any symptoms of infection develop, which are redness, pain, swelling and watery eyes.
