Getting rid of bad habits can help your mental wellbeing and may help you identify other areas of your life that need your attention. Here are a couple of tips to help you break those bad habits.

Identify the culprit: Look for those triggers that prompt the bad habit in the first place. Typically, it is some form of stress that is responsible. If you can identify the stressor and remove it, that is the first step in breaking the habit.

Set up a roadblock: Create "one more step" for yourself between the trigger and the habit. For example, if you find yourself endlessly scrolling on your phone, in bed, when you are trying to go to sleep, try placing your phone in another room. Or if you want to stop yourself from stopping by the bakery in the morning and getting a donut, pick a different route to work or try eating a healthy option before going to work to curb your craving.

So step out of your "habit zone" and take control of that bad habit instead of allowing it to control you and see what changes that can bring about in your life.
