It's time to batten down the hatches.
The Omicron variant of Covid-19 is sweeping the country like a tsunami. Daily new cases are higher than they were in spring 2020. And this one is even snagging vaccinated people. The one piece of good news? It seems to be milder than Delta, especially so for people doubly vaccinated or boosted. And if you've had your booster, your chances of getting it are less AND you're less likely to require hospitalization.
But for the next 4-8 weeks, you're going to need to be much more careful than before. I've stopped eating indoors, but I give my local restaurants plenty of take-out business. And I'm masking anytime I'm indoors with anyone other than my wife, even if people snicker at me. Staying healthy will NOT prevent you from getting the virus, but it can mitigate the course. So keep your blood sugar and blood pressure in check. Take walks outside (but avoid the ice). Make sure that you're keeping up with all your medications and eye vitamins. But by now, you know all this, because I've been a broken record. And finally, if you're still sitting on the fence about getting vaccinated, now would be a good day to think about saving your life by getting it. You may not survive hoping that natural immunity will save you, and this virus is not going away anytime soon. If you need convincing and want to hear from a vaccine expert who speaks in crystal clear language, I highly recommend Dr. Jonathan Gershoni's 10-minute talk.
